Hidden beneath a kebab shop on busy Hackney Road, The Liquor Cabinet is a ‘small but perfectly formed’ establishment that opened officially at the end of September.
Owners Thom and Mikey have a huge amount of hospitality experience between them – having managed and worked in bars in Auckland, Melbourne, Edinburgh, and most recently together at the Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town in Spitalfields.
The Liquor Cabinet was dreamed up as a salve to the chaos of East London. The result is a true collaboration between friends, a cosy hideaway for discerning drinkers to enjoy, with intimate booths and a candlelit bar.
The menu is thoughtful and neatly curated, featuring premium spirits, craft beers and fragrant Pour de Jour wines sourced from small vineyards. However, the real attraction is Thom and Mikey’s range of handmade bottled cocktails, cold ‘n’ good to go. Currently you’ll find Negronis, Old Fashioneds and Godmothers, with more exciting drinks will be introduced to suit the seasons.
You won’t find any unpalatable Ouzo, excessively aged brandy or stern words from your father here. Just superb drinks, friendly staff and great music.
